Books on beekeeping
Most books on beekeeping repeat over and over the same information. Bee anatomy, hive location, hive management, harvesting and so on. I will run two lists, first downloadable books that are certainly worth having read, and some recommendations of books worth buying or loaning from your library as they are not available for free.

Langstroths the hive and the honey bee. (its old, pre varroa, but the basics are all there. The english is more for advanced english speakers)
Storch At the hive entrance. An excellent translation of the German book about what may be gleaned by observing the hive entrance.
Root The ABC and XYZ of bee culture. A cyclopedia of beekeeping, excellent reference book, also pre varroa
CC Miller A Thousand Answers to Beekeeping Questions. Also a classic compendium, but still relevant.
Australian Beekeepers Guide. A more modern book on beekeeping management from the Australian www.agrifutures.com.au website
Fat bees skinny bees - also from agrifuures.com about bee nutrition
Swarming it's Control and Prevention by L. E. Snelgrove another classic
Simple Methods of Making Increase by Wally Shaw a booklet about how to increase colony numbers
My beekeeping year by Ian Craig a bigginers guide to beekeeping month by mont (Scotland- beware your climate my differ!)
Pests and diseases of the honey Bee from the Welsh beekeepers association.

Books worth buying:
Guide to Bees & Honey: Ted Hooper simply explained, all the basics with very good tips on how to work hives.
Dadants the hive and the honey bee. From https://www.dadant.com/catalog/publications, it is 54$US but beware of postal costs! It is up to date and covers most aspects of beekeeping from bee biology to setting up as a beekeeping business.

Disclaimer
Bees do not always read the same textbooks as we do. Before you implement anything, consider how it may be applied to your climate, microclimate, type of bee, type of hive, current season, weather and flow. And never let your bees want for food!

Your bees, they dont have a calendar, they measure the seasons by the length of the day. And they build up on the nectar flows in your area. Follow and record whats flowering year for year to keep a step ahead of your bees.
